About this book
These short poems are a visitor's tribute to the valley, written with real affection for its landscape and people. The chenar, the great plane tree of Kashmir, gives the collection its name.
It is a small book, but it belongs to the long tradition of poetry that Kashmir has inspired in many languages, from Persian court poets to the travellers of the twentieth century.
