About this book
Knowles spent years gathering these proverbs from Kashmiris. The entries are arranged alphabetically and many come with the anecdote or folk tale that gave rise to them.
For readers of Kashmiri the book preserves sayings, some of which have since fallen out of use. For everyone else it is a lively window into how Kashmiris of the 1880s joked, warned, consoled and argued.
